Named after Transmaniacon MC a song by Blue Öyster Cult. “Transmaniacon MC” is the first track from Blue Öyster Cult’s first studio album, Blue Öyster Cult. Its lyrics are inspired by the infamous Altamont Free Concert, in which a member of Hells Angels stabbed concertgoer Meredith Hunter after he brandished a revolver during the Rolling Stones’ set.

Transmaniacon, was also a cyberpunk novel by John Shirley, set in a dystopian future where the United States is protected from the rest of the world by a barrier. The story follows Ben Rackey, a professional irritant who is hired to steal a device called the Exciter. The Exciter can amplify strong human emotions, such as anger and fear, and Rackey plans to use it to bring down the barrier.
