The Nor-Cal Pineapple Thai IBL, circa 2000, has been around for what seems like forever. Using the old local Hmong Pineapple Kush line, some bright soul decided it a good idea to cross it with another local favorite, a “wild” Highland Thai IBL (which is also Hmong). This is a Hmong creation and a really, really fine one at that. (The Hmong are some of the finest growers on the planet!)
The Nor-Cal Pineapple Thai IBL always ran too long for practical use at Ambrosia’s latitude, though the plant itself is stellar! They thought they could work it back to their current Sour Jamaican Lime stud and see if they could bring the run time back into the fold while adding a bit of tropical fruit to the mix of the Sour Jamaican Lime spritz without sacrificing its excellent terpene pallet and generous yields.
Ambrosia has been working on refining Dying Breed’s under-appreciated “Sour Jamaican Lime” for at least four years. Battle-proven for producing quality flowers with amazing lime terp profiles that wander to hints of green curry with just ridiculous resin production. It just needed a faster run time and a broader terpene range to make both lines shine. (Too much pineapple terps can be a bit overbearing for some folks.)
The results of this marriage fared better than they thought since it can be hard to bring run times down. Still, a 9-week run time is acceptable compared to a 10-11 week run time. Best of all, Fruitopia’s tropical fruit terps proved amazing, though not their primary target. There is a little bit of everything in this plant terp-wise, from pineapple to tangerine to lime to herbal notes with some hints of chocolate in there to boot!
The rest of the plant profile remains largely unchanged with ridiculous resin production and quality flowers. It is hard not to enjoy this plant and its super, daytime “happy” smoke!
Ideal for either indoor or outdoor cultivation, it will perform well in a greenhouse environment as well. Best of all, look for a sub-8-week run time with less of a concern for late-season mold.
